ZIMMERMAN was established in 2010 with a clear vision - to provide Palmerston North residents and visitors with the opportunity to view original and engaging works of art in the City centre. ZIMMERMAN's wide street level frontage allows you to view the displayed works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are no steps to climb, entry is free, and the doors are open 11am to 3pm every day (including weekends).
Location - Nestled in Palmerston North's boutique and cultural quarter, ZIMMERMAN is just off The Square at 359 Main Street. The region's public art gallery, Te Manawa Museum of Art Science and History, is a short walk down the street. (See under Contact for a map and contact details for ZIMMERMAN).
Artists - ZIMMERMAN exhibits works by invited contemporary New Zealand artists. (See under FAQs for a list of the artists currently represented by ZIMMERMAN).
Founder / Director - ZIMMERMAN was founded by its Director, Bronwyn Zimmerman. Bronwyn worked as a commercial lawyer in Wellington, Auckland, Sydney and Singapore, before settling in Palmerston North and opening ZIMMERMAN. An active member of several arts organisations, Bronwyn has compiled a free guide to key places of artistic interest in the City centre (see under Arts Trail for more information).
Services - In addition to exhibiting art, ZIMMERMAN also supplies:
- Information about exhibited artists and their works
- Advice on art collecting and purchases
- Assistance with delivery, lighting and installation of paintings and sculpture
